ABOUT BROOKS
As an advocate and litigator, I have participated in hundreds of mediations over the last 30 years in cases involving personal injury, including vehicle accidents {cars, trucks and motorcycles), trips and falls, products liability cases, burn and electrocution cases, professional liability claims against EMS and fire agencies and Insurance coverage and insurance bad faith cases. I have worked with many different mediators in these cases and I have paid close attention to what works in mediation and what does not work. I have gained valuable information and skills from my formal mediation training and in working with several ADR professionals over the years, which I use in my own mediation practice today. I have mediated more than 250 cases across several different practices areas.
I’m certified as a mediator by the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts of Pennsylvania of the United States District Court and proudly serve a volunteer mediator for all three Courts. I have formal mediation training from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, Advoz Mediation and Restorative Practices, The Conflict Lab, The Pennsylvania Bar Association and The Dauphin County Bar Association. I continue to grow personally and professionally by attending and/or presenting several topical CLEs annually. There is always more to learn about ADR practices and theories.
Currently, I’m co-chair of the PBA ADR Committee, where we are dedicated to growing and educating ADR professionals and consumers of ADR services. I serve on other ADR boards and committees and serve as a volunteer mediator for The Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations, Neighborhood Dispute Settlement and Advoz Mediation and Restorative Practices.
My mediation experience is varied and includes all types of civil matters, including car, truck and motorcycle accidents, premises liability, products liability, professional liability, EMS, dram shop, contract disputes, business disputes, construction, landlord-tenant, real estate, employment, insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, medical malpractice and senior care. As a rider myself, I have a special interest and perspective in evaluating and facilitating cases involving motorcycle accidents. I'm approved by MCARE to mediate or arbitrate medical malpractice cases in which they are involved.
On a personal note, I’m very active in my community. I’m blessed to serve breakfast at a local homeless shelter several times per week. I also proudly serve on the board of Dauphin County CASA, a non-profit group which trains and supports dedicated volunteers who work directly with children in foster care. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and attending concerts with my wife and spending time with family and friends.
